Calling all Zoo Trotters! We’re relaunching your favourite Sunday morning, walk and run at the Joburg Zoo and you’re in for a treat. This Sunday, 9 October 2022 is the official relaunch of the much-loved 5km or 10km walk or run after the complete relaxation of Covid restrictions. The Zoo trot, in its 22nd year has seen avid zoo trotters catch up on life, where friendships developed, and smiles shared with familiar faces.
Gates will open as early as 06:30 am, registration is at 07:00 and the race promptly at 07:30am. Shade is abundant in the scorching heat, with cooler air in the mornings while exercising outdoors.
The first 50 entries get in for free. There are goodie bags up for grabs for the first 200 finishers containing a towel, water bottle and a limited edition of a Zoo Trot relaunch medal. The kiddies will be entertained with face painters, mime artists, stilt walkers and a bit of music to keep the energies going.
The Joburg Zoo is centrally located and easily accessible even by public transport. Motorists can make use of the parkade for peace of mind while enjoying some quiet time out of the bustle of the city.
Bring your picnic blankies, camp chairs and enjoy a day out with family and friends. Remember to wear a hat, sunscreen and loads of water to hydrate.
