Celebrating 121 Years of the Joburg Zoo – A Month of Exciting Events and Special Offers!
 

Johannesburg, South Africa – 17 February 2025 – The Joburg Zoo is thrilled to announce the celebration of its 121st birthday and invites everyone to join in the festivities throughout March! From exciting events to special offers, there’s no better time to visit this iconic landmark and connect with nature.

 

Date: 1 - 28 March 2025 (except 21 March)

In honour of its milestone anniversary, the Joburg Zoo is offering a 50% discount on all daily entry fees from 1 March 2025 to 28 March 2025. (excluding 21 March at R21 entry fee). This is the perfect opportunity for families and animal lovers to explore the zoo’s beautiful grounds and diverse wildlife at a fraction of the cost!

Highlights of the Month-Long Celebration:

9 March 2025

Zoo Precinct 121 Trot @ R37 per person

Take part in this exciting walk through the zoo’s scenic precinct and explore Zoo Lake with a guided tour, filled with fun facts and fascinating wildlife insights. Entry is R37.

12 March 2025

Residential Walk in the Zoo (Free for Forest Town Association & SAPRA members – (17:00 – 20:00)

Enjoy an exclusive evening stroll through the zoo with your local community! Please note, that the zoo is not lit up for this event, so bring your torch and come enjoy the tranquility of the zoo at night.

14 March 2025

Staff Activation & Art Competition Deadline.
Join us as our dedicated staff engage in exciting activities to celebrate this historic occasion. Don’t forget, the deadline for submitting your creative artwork for our art competition is also on this day!

16 March 2025

Zoo Lake Cleanup with Fun Activities & Animal Dress-Up
Let’s give back to the community with a fun-filled cleanup day at Zoo Lake! Bring your creativity and come dressed as your favourite animal as we combine environmental action with animal-themed fun.

Big Water Cleanup Day at the Zoo

Capture the beauty of the Joburg Zoo and Zoo Lake and share your best shots on Instagram and Facebook to participate in our exciting weekly photography competition.

Arts Alive: Jazz in the Lights Event (Entry Fee: R350 pp)
End the month-long celebration with an unforgettable night of music, lights, and art at our Jazz and the Lights event. Enjoy smooth jazz performances, illuminated zoo exhibits, and stunning visual displays.

30 March 2025 and 31 March 2025

Return to Normal Tariffs
After an incredible month of celebrations, the zoo returns to regular entry fees of R126 for adults, and R74 for children and senior citizens.
 

Important Notes:

  • Complimentary Vouchers: Please note that complimentary vouchers are not applicable in March due to the special discounts offered during the anniversary celebrations, nor are they valid for any event hosted within the zoo.

Just a recap:

  • Joburg Zoo will offer an entry fee of R21 on the 21st of every month.
  • The R21 entry fee is valid from 21 March 2025 to 21 February 2026.
  • Jazz in the Lights @ Joburg Zoo entry fee at R350 pp
  • Return of normal entry fee on 30 March 2025 and 31 March 2025.
